Ciph Lab® is a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) — a legal business structure that balances profit with a stated public mission. Unlike traditional corporations, a PBC is legally obligated to consider the impact of its decisions on society, not just shareholders. Ciph Lab®'s mission is to build the foundational governance infrastructure that responsible AI deployment requires — regardless of who is deploying it.

Early-stage & pre-seed. Ciph Lab® is an actively operating early-stage company. We do not yet have outside investors. That means contributors join at a foundational moment — the work you do here has outsized impact and direct visibility to leadership. We are transparent about where we are because the right contributors will see that as an asset, not a liability.

We welcome contributors across disciplines — researchers, operators, advisors, builders, and students. If any part of that resonates, tell us about yourself.

Ciph Lab® is forming its first IR™ Operator certificate cohort — a small group of IR™ Operators who will work directly with us to stress-test, shape, and validate the IR™ Operator certificate standard before it goes public. These aren't just early adopters — they're co-architects of what this standard becomes. If that interests you, tell us more below.

The cohort is targeting a launch of October 2026. Spots are limited and selection is by invitation.
